How to Stack and Style Charms Into a One-of-a-Kind Necklace

A charm necklace is one of the easiest ways to make jewelry feel personal. You can wear a single piece on its own or add to it over time. Many Meli pieces are designed for exactly that: wear it by itself or stack it with other charms to create a necklace that is yours alone.

Start with one focal piece

Pick one piece to be the center of the look. A medallion works well because it has presence on its own. The Omnia Medallion measures 20 mm, and the Medium Omnia Medallion Ombre adds a splash of color.

Add smaller pieces around it

Once you have a focal charm, add smaller ones that do not compete. The Anya Locket is about 10 by 10.43 mm, and the Initial Pendant adds a personal touch with a letter of your choice.

Mix texture and shine

Pair plain, smooth surfaces with pieces set with stones. A smooth gold locket next to a stone-set charm gives the eye something to move between. Keep the metals consistent, so 14K gold-plated pieces sit with other gold-plated pieces, and keep silver pieces together.

Think about spacing and length

  • Leave a little room between charms so each one can be seen.
  • Keep the heaviest charm near the center.
  • Wear a shorter chain with a single medallion, or a longer chain for a full stack.

Check what is included

Some medallions and pendants are sold as the pendant only and do not include a chain, so check each listing before you order. Every piece is made to order, so plan for about 2 weeks for fabrication and delivery.
